President: Kiril Bankov

Kiril Bankov is a professor at the Department for Education on Mathematics and Informatics at the Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics, University of Sofia, Bulgaria. He teaches mathematics education courses in the mathematics teacher preparation track at the Faculty. He also delivers some courses in the field of educational research and measurement.

 

For the last two decades Prof. Bankov has been the Coordinator for Bulgaria in some international studies (TIMSS, MT-21), and has coordinated several national studies sponsored by the Ministry of Education and the Open Society Institute (Soros). He is a mathematics coordinator in the International Study Centers for TEDS-M and FIRSTMATH studies. His work also includes educational assessment-related consultancies as a member of the International Expert Panels for TIMSS and TEDS-M. He was a World Bank consultant for projects in Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and Armenia.

 

Besides mathematics education, his research interests include large-scale assessment, measurement theories and scaling (including IRT), higher cognitive processes in problem solving.

Gergana Dacheva

Prof. Dr. Gergana Dacheva is a lecturer in the Department of Bulgarian Language at the Faculty of Slavic Philology - Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski ”. Her main interests are in the field of stylistics, the history of the Bulgarian literary language and semiotics. Prof. Dacheva is a co-author of textbooks and manuals with tests in Bulgarian, an expert at the Ministry of Education and Science in Bulgarian for 4th grade HBO, as well as for DZI in Bulgarian language and literature, participant in national and international projects in the field of education.

Tatyana AngelovaTatiana Angelova is a professor of Bulgarian language teaching at the Faculty of Slavic Studies at the Sofia University St. Kliment Ohridski. She is the author of the monographs: Assessment in Bulgarian Language Training and Methodology of Bulgarian Language Training. Contemporary Problems, as well as the study Reading and Reading Culture. PIRLS '2006.

Its rich, long-lasting teaching experience is related to innovative methods in Bulgarian language learning (e-learning), with active learning methods; assessment in Bulgarian language training. She was the National Research Coordinator for Bulgaria in the International PIRLS '2006 Study. Tatiana Angelova delivers lecture courses on the problems of speech training, interactive methods, test assessment and assessment of student texts, research problems in Bulgarian language training. She runs trainings with Bulgarian-language teachers on literacy issues, bilingual work, applying assessment for better learning, integrating ICT.

She is the author of dozens of textbooks and tutorials in Bulgarian language for 5-12 grade.

Yovka Tisheva

Yovka Tisheva is a Doctor of Philology, Professor at the Department of Bulgarian Language at the Faculty of Slavic Philology at Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski ”. He delivers lectures in grammar of the modern Bulgarian language for students from the bachelor's programs of the Faculty of Slavic Philology. In the master's programs at the Faculty of Slavic Philology he teaches peculiarities of oral communication, academic writing and dynamics of the Bulgarian language. Her research interests are in the field of syntax and linguistic pragmatics, academic communication, business written and oral communication, the methodology of teaching Bulgarian as a native and as a foreign language. She has published a number of books and articles, including "Models for the interpretation of complex sentences in modern Bulgarian" (2000), "Structural models of interrogative sentences in Bulgarian" (2004), and co-authored with I. Mavrodieva: "Academic communication ”(2010),“ Academic writing for doctoral students and postdoctoral students ”(2014),“ From the paper to the master's thesis: Academic writing for students ”(2016). He is the author of textbooks in Bulgarian for high school from 5th to 12th grade.
